DGRA PROJECT BY LUCAS DI GRASSI

DGR / ELECTRIC RACING, FROM FIRST PRINCIPLES

RACING.
RETHOUGHT.

What could a racing car become if you started with a blank sheet?

DGR is the independent electric racing project created and owned by Lucas di Grassi. Created from scratch to rethink how an electric car generates grip, carries speed and uses energy.

01 / THE STARTING POINT

A different question.
A different car.

A racing car usually gains downforce as it gains speed. DGR explores what happens when electric power can generate that grip through the slow corners, too.

Developed from scratch by Lucas, the concept combines fan-assisted downforce, efficient bodywork and a modular battery. The initial Monaco study uses a Formula E Gen4 simulation as its starting point, then tests the contribution of each major design change.

The January 2026 RACE TECH cover story, “Breaking the mould”, explores the thinking behind the car. This is the project’s home for that story, its engineering and the work still to come.

02 / THE MONACO SIMULATION

Grip changes
everything.

The October 2025 study explores a different route to performance: using electric power to generate grip, then combining it with a lighter qualifying setup and lower drag.
